Jacaranda Enriching Life Day Centre provides friendship, care support and stimulating activity for the older members of our community including the frail aged and those with memory loss or dementia on Monday and Wednesday. Pittwater Uniting Church and UnitingCare – Northern Sydney Region invites you to experience CAFE Jacaranda (Caring About Frail & Elderly) located in a tranquil bushland setting on the beautiful Northern Beaches offering a safe and welcoming environment to which community groups and aged care facilities can bring elderly clients for a tasty, freshly cooked meal with entertainment or Devonshire teas. Open on Tuesday and Thursday. Operated by a friendly team of volunteers catering for groups of 10-40 people (smaller groups of less or individuals are most welcomed to combined with other groups) bookings must be pre booked one month ahead. If you have a heart for the elderly and know they are special and would like to join a friendly team of volunteers to assist in the daily routine in one of these ministries we would welcome you. Your help would be appreciated in companionship, assisting in activities, meal preparation & serving, transport, entertainment – singing or playing the piano. Our aim is to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to the frail aged in a loving caring environment.
We seek to reach out to the frail aged in nursing homes and hostels, proclaiming the gospel, showing the love of Christ, give hope to the residents, with ongoing spiritual support and to promote community awareness to some of the spiritual needs of our frail aged.
We do this through praise and worship, preaching a short word, prayer and encouragement. This might involve 1-to-1 chats with residents, helping the residents to get involved and prayer for and supporting staff and each other as needed.
By preaching the good news of Jesus we could make a huge difference to the future of these precious people for all eternity.

These workshops are held from 9 -12.30 in the Jacaranda room at various times throughout the year. This is a great opportunity to network with other people who have a desire to pray for and reach out to the elderly. If you are interested in volunteering for this ministry please come along and join us for morning tea. No cost, all welcome.
